2024 — 2025 Season
This season, the Horizon Ensemble was proud to present the works of 11 composer friends including the premiere of 7 new works.
Over the course of the season we showcased works by composers from 8 different countries.
Our season was marked by our collaborations with MassOpera and The Opera Company.
We also launched our first-ever Call for Scores.

Massachusetts Voices
Sunday, April 6
From the revolutionary voice of Paul Revere to the voices of today’s Massachusettsans, we reflected on the 250 years of Massachusetts history and how our voices continue to resonate into the future.
This concert featured our first-ever Call for Scores winner John Rotar with his piece Coonarr and the world premiere of Ben Nacar’s Paul Revere.

Shades of Autumn
Saturday, November 16
Through different centuries, musical styles, and instrumental ensembles, we explored music inspired by the brisk, fleeting autumn airs.
This concert featured the world premiere of Hayley Yu Qin’s Three Moods in New England.

Poulenc Party
Sunday, February 23
In this concert, Horizon Ensemble highlighted the music of French composer Francis Poulenc.
This concert featured the world premiere of Yangfan Xu’s Four Portraits in Brass which was premiered by our friends The Ringers.

Freedom
Sunday, October 6
We kicked off our season with a concert centered around freedom. From 1770 to today, we took a look at works that inspire us to look forward to the exciting possibilities that life may present us.
This concert featured the world premiere of Laleh-zar by Sepehr Pirasteh.
